The PTEC Contemporary Choir closed the Fulton Alumni sabbath programme on the 22nd May with their rendition of the song made famous by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir "I Surrender". It just blessed the audience and sent them all out on a high to begin a new week.

Leading along the sidelines
Ni Vanuatu, 2nd year Bachelor of Dentistry student at the Fiji School of Medicine,Barkon Japtheth presented on the challenge of "leading along the sidelines". What is amazing about this week of prayer series is the fact that many students in our congregation devalue their abilities to contribute to mission. The main reason for this is the fact that they compare themselves to the extroverted and confident personalities who are usually more articulate and willing to participate in church organised activities.
The message challenged that mindset getting students to realise that they could use the individual gifts given them even along the sidelines as did Ruth, Naaman's slave girl and Joseph of Arimathea (Matt 27:57-60). Interestingly, the practice called after worship for Betikama Alumni to prepare for Sabbath School was not only well attended but the singing was glorious. Through the Holy Spirit, Japheth's challenge did touch many hearts.

PTEC assists Sydney Heart Team
The Adventurers, Pathfinders and the counsellors of the PTEC congregation assisted the Sydney Heart team by visiting those people who had been operated on and who were ready to be discharged from the hospital after successful operations. Their fellowship included singing to them, praying with them and giving out gifts which children in Australia had donated to be given out during the 2010 visit to Fiji. Many of the children had taken the day off from school to participate in the activity. PTEC also participated in the farewell programme organised by the Fiji Mission at the end of the two weeks of work by the Heart Team. The Commissioners Singing Group, a group of Fijian students and a couple of Tongan members provided some of the entertainment at the meal prepared for the team.
This was the Sydney Adventist Hospital's 100th visit to Fiji to provide this much needed assistance to the people of Fiji. Although limited in how PTEC could support their work, the church was involved in praying for the team during the two weeks they were here working.

"Standing in the Spotlight" - The Leader:Jesus
"Be bold for Jesus not just in your words but also in your actions. That is always inspiring".
Solomon Island 2nd year Bachelor in Environment Science student at the University of the South Pacific, Calwin Kepo, held the congregation spell bound with his capture of the essence of last night's message on the topic above.
The 3 leadership characteristics emphasised clearly in this reading by Calwin were the importance of being: Bold, Courageous and Humble.

PTEC's Condolences to Mohulamu
Our sincere condolences to Mohu who lost his dad early this week.
We were informed last night that first year Tongan student, Mohulamu Lolomanaia lost his dad early in the week. Mohu travelled back home on Tuesday morning and is back in Tonga with his family now. This is not an easy time in the semester to lose a close family member. Let us all remember Mohu in our prayers as he deals with the loss of his dad and importantly as he returns to his academic commitments for this semester and prepares for his semester examinations.

Power-up: 60 minutes with Jesus - "The Gifts"
Tuesday evening's worship was led by Ioabo Krisiano (2nd year Computer Science & Information Systems I-Kiribati student at the University of the South Pacific) who was supported by his wife, Turaa and first cousins, Lily and Gina. Since coming to USP a couple of years ago, this was Ioabo's first opportunity to lead out in worship and what was evident was the Lord's leading in his presentation and obviously this was an opportunity for the Holy Spirit to speak to his heart through the message he presented. A future I-Kiribati leader in the making. We can praise the Lord for His help.
Tomorrow's message, "standing in the spotlight" will be led by Calwin Kepo a Bachelor of Science student from the Solomon Islands. The programme will begin at 8pm with song service and is being held in N111.

60 minutes with Jesus
PTEC's Week of Prayer on the theme, "The Leader: Jesus" was launched last night by final year student, Asaeli Vateitei who spoke on the topic: "The Expert". The overall gist of the message was focussed on a quote taken from Christ Object Lesson (p.333), “If placed under the control of His Spirit, the more thoroughly the intellect is cultivated, the more effectively it can be used in the service of God.”. This was very apt for the students who attended the session given the fact that they are all studying at tertiary institutions to gain a qualification for the workforce in the Pacific. Asaeli challenged everyone on this critically apt quote which would no doubt have registered in many of the minds and hearts of our members who were present. Tonight's message will be taken by I-Kiribati student, Ioabo Krisiano and his topic will be: "The Gifts". It will be held at N111 at 8pm.
