It is that time in the semester when the stress levels are high with exams scheduled to start in a few days time or in another week. I recall my days as a student, using a variety of strategies to learn the large amounts of materials covered in a whole semester. I preferred exams where the questions did not expect me to churn out loads of facts because these tended to only be stored in my short term memory. I think learning is about understanding, finding meaning and being able to make the necessary connections to the world or community around me.
When most people would be pressured to swot and prepare for exams because of the desire to be successful some 150 young people have chosen to attend the ASA Leadership Seminar week-end at Deuba. The choice these young people have made to attend this weekend camp just before semester exams could suggest several things but what is evident about this group of future church leaders is the fact that they have put God first believing that all other things would be added unto them. Let us remember them in our prayers this week-end and when they return to their desks to study, that they will be able to focus, revise, rehearse, and recall all that they have learnt this past semester.
