Welcome

Welcome to the PTEC Blog. We are a multicultural group of mainly young people from across the Pacific who have much in common. Like the children of Israel we move from venue to venue for our worship meetings. Set up in the late 1970's this congregation began with about 10 members and has grown to approximately two hundred members.

Originally known as the University Church, it took on the new branding and identity following plans to build a church where programmes could be expanded to include more vigorous campus ministry activities and pastoral care for students who have left their regional homes across the Pacific to get a qualification. The congregation is currently pastored by Talatala Joe Talemaitoga. He is also the Chaplain for the Adventist Students Association Fiji wide and although the PTEC church takes up much of his time, he also works with students studying at other tertiary institutions across Viti Levu.

PTEC is a youthful, vibrant congregation of South Pacific and Fijian students who are in Suva to study at tertiary institutions, such as the University of the South Pacific, Fiji School of Medicine and Fiji Institute of Technology.

Our mission theme for this year is: "Grow Curious, Grow Together and Grow in God".

A Lesson of service and witness from the Ants!

There is a story I’ve been hearing
With a lesson that’s most cheering,
And I’m sure that you would
Like to learn it too.

Well a man was eating pastry,
And it must have been quite tasty,
When he thought of something
He would like to do.

He was sitting at the table,
Eating all that he was able,
When he spied a little ant upon the floor.

Placing the ant upon the pastry,
Which he thought had been quite tasty,
He was shocked to see the ant would eat no more,
Instead the ant left the table,
Run as fast as he was able
Down the legs and raced across the floor.

So, the man gave close inspection
And he followed the direction
As he saw the ant rush through the open door.

On the street, the ant found others,
I don’t know if friends or brothers,
But what he said just seemed to thrill them all.
Not a one made an indictment,
Every ant with great excitement,
Came and followed him in answer to his call.

They returned to the table,
Where they ate all they were able,
While the man stood by inspired,
By what he’d seen.
When he thought of all his neighbours,
And how circumscribed his labours,
He was shamed to be so selfish and so mean.

We believe the gospel story,
And we long for heaven’s glory.
Let the world behold our hope to us is real,
And the message will go sweeter,
And our feet become much fleeter,
When we get the ant’s evangelistic zeal.

“Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise!” (Proverbs 6:6).
This is wise counsel. It is my prayer that you and I will learn a lesson or two in service and witness from this small, insignificant insect. We welcome you to the PTEC Adventist Church. May your worship experience here today lead you to uplift Jesus in all aspects of your life every day and to Grow in God by serving humanity - witnessing to His love.
