Welcome

Welcome to the PTEC Blog. We are a multicultural group of mainly young people from across the Pacific who have much in common. Like the children of Israel we move from venue to venue for our worship meetings. Set up in the late 1970's this congregation began with about 10 members and has grown to approximately two hundred members.

Originally known as the University Church, it took on the new branding and identity following plans to build a church where programmes could be expanded to include more vigorous campus ministry activities and pastoral care for students who have left their regional homes across the Pacific to get a qualification. The congregation is currently pastored by Talatala Joe Talemaitoga. He is also the Chaplain for the Adventist Students Association Fiji wide and although the PTEC church takes up much of his time, he also works with students studying at other tertiary institutions across Viti Levu.

PTEC is a youthful, vibrant congregation of South Pacific and Fijian students who are in Suva to study at tertiary institutions, such as the University of the South Pacific, Fiji School of Medicine and Fiji Institute of Technology.

Our mission theme for this year is: "Grow Curious, Grow Together and Grow in God".

GC 2010 Bulletin 4

(TL Joe's room became the Fiji head quarters for meals and fellowship. Thanks to TL Joe's FB profile for the photos).

It's Sunday afternoon in Atlanta,

This and that My room (number 14) has become the unofficial Fiji Mission meeting place. After Friday night Vespers - we all sat around here chatting and having hot chocolate and apple pie. Some people shared how much they have had to go through in the last two years or even more to get to Atlanta.

Its been a dream and after Vespers - its been worth all the sacrifice and savings.Family were also calling us from Fiji wanting to know how were were doing.Everyone agreed that God has been at work all along as always. Friday night music was awsome. Wish more from Fiji were heare to share the experience. God willing and if He has not returned before then - why not plan to be part of the team at the 2015 General Conference Session in Texas.

It's only 5 years away. A FREE online school of evangelism and church growth at your fingertps! - see www.HopeNETonline.org ATLANTAKasim Reed - Atlanta City Mayor - welcomed the world church in session on Friday night. This city hosted the 1996 Olympic Games (remember the song..."If I could reach higher"), has the world's largest aquarium, is the birthplace of Martin Luther King Jnr, and is the home for Coca Cola, Fox Theatre and CNN. EXPO HALL A great place to be.

Resources, Adventist Preachers, Authors etc - they are there. HOPE Channel stage, Heritage Singers, and booths for all Universities, Hospitals, Divisions, church departments/ministries.

It can get overwhelming and tiring just walking around the place. SABBATH JUNE 26 We arrived 8:15 for Sabbath school. Sabbath school featured 4 essential elements of Mission, Outreach, Fellowship and Bible Study. Pathfinders in full uniform officiated as deacons. Outgoing GC President and Secretary were honoured prior to Divine Serivce.

Matthew Bediako (outgoing GC Secretary) preached about Grace at Calvary. He talked about the cross of redemption, cross of rejection, and cross of acceptance. The service ended with Wintley Phipps singing John Newton's "Amazing Grace". Sabbath lunch - Fiji Mission group had combined lunch and then left for various afternoon meetings - free concerts, Mission reports and musical presentations.

We also got to watch the SID and NAD (North American Division) present their reports. The NAD report - titled "LIKE NEVER BEFORE" is a must for all to see. Ended with a song: "We will STAND" like never before, we will SING like never before, we will SERVE like never before and we will LIVE like never before.

After you watch it and when you've been at a GC Session - you will leave with no doubt that the Seventh-day Adventist Church is GOD's true remnant church.

Gotta go,
