Welcome

Welcome to the PTEC Blog. We are a multicultural group of mainly young people from across the Pacific who have much in common. Like the children of Israel we move from venue to venue for our worship meetings. Set up in the late 1970's this congregation began with about 10 members and has grown to approximately two hundred members.

Originally known as the University Church, it took on the new branding and identity following plans to build a church where programmes could be expanded to include more vigorous campus ministry activities and pastoral care for students who have left their regional homes across the Pacific to get a qualification. The congregation is currently pastored by Talatala Joe Talemaitoga. He is also the Chaplain for the Adventist Students Association Fiji wide and although the PTEC church takes up much of his time, he also works with students studying at other tertiary institutions across Viti Levu.

PTEC is a youthful, vibrant congregation of South Pacific and Fijian students who are in Suva to study at tertiary institutions, such as the University of the South Pacific, Fiji School of Medicine and Fiji Institute of Technology.

Our mission theme for this year is: "Grow Curious, Grow Together and Grow in God".

iMPACT SUVA (iSUV)
It is not a new thing. Neither is it just another program. The Seventh-day Adventist Church is involved in a worldwide integrated system with the mission to serve. In our context, the PTEC church aim is individual growth of every member and of the community where we live. iMPACT Suva is about HOPE. It is about living hope in the communities, hospitals, prisons, schools, families and in every place where people need a better life.

iMPACT Suva is about SERVICE. God lives to serve. In all these places our hands are outstretched to serve and more importantly to present the reason of and motivation of our hope – Jesus Christ. Since God lives to serve, and since He wants us to be like Him, He also wants us to serve. He enables service by giving each of us different spiritual gifts which we can use to bless and benefit others.

iMPACT Suva is about GIVING. God is an outrageous giver. He has all the resources of the universe at His disposal. So relax, open your clenched fists – shake another hand, play the keyboard or guitar, scrub the floors, weed, give money, and GIVE of YOUR TIME, TALENT and TESTIMONY.

iMPACT Suva is about FRIENDS. God loves great friendships. Eleanor Roosevelt said that “Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart”. And a true friend walks in when the rest of the world walks out. Jesus said “I have called you friends” (John 15:15) what an awesome thought. Think about it – that the God who is over all and above all is our friend. Is your friendship walk or journey such that it is leaving a positive IMPACT on the heart of people?

SUVA – home to over 150,000 people from different cultures, religions, languages, socio-economic status and background
IMPACT – wiktionary.org defines the word as; a significant or strong influence, to affect, force or energy of a collision of two objects.
God is a God of new beginnings. As Seventh-day Adventists, the most sublime hope that we treasure is to see the return of Jesus soon. Please PRAY for iSUV. Join a group and begin a strong and significant influence for good in the homes, in prison, the old people’s home, in the air, infact to all people groups everywhere in the city of Suva.

Yours for Hope that iMPACTS lives...

Joe Talemaitoga
