Welcome

Welcome to the PTEC Blog. We are a multicultural group of mainly young people from across the Pacific who have much in common. Like the children of Israel we move from venue to venue for our worship meetings. Set up in the late 1970's this congregation began with about 10 members and has grown to approximately two hundred members.

Originally known as the University Church, it took on the new branding and identity following plans to build a church where programmes could be expanded to include more vigorous campus ministry activities and pastoral care for students who have left their regional homes across the Pacific to get a qualification. The congregation is currently pastored by Talatala Joe Talemaitoga. He is also the Chaplain for the Adventist Students Association Fiji wide and although the PTEC church takes up much of his time, he also works with students studying at other tertiary institutions across Viti Levu.

PTEC is a youthful, vibrant congregation of South Pacific and Fijian students who are in Suva to study at tertiary institutions, such as the University of the South Pacific, Fiji School of Medicine and Fiji Institute of Technology.

Our mission theme for this year is: "Grow Curious, Grow Together and Grow in God".

GC Report 2010 - Bulletin 2

Bula from Atlanta,

FRIDAY

Session delegates voted in Ted Wilson (USA) as General Conference President. He replaces Jan Paulsen (Europe) GT Ng (Singaporean) replaces Matthew Bediako (Ghana) as General Secretary. Robert Lemon (USA) re-elected as world church Treasurer.
Morning devotions at the Georgia Dome commences 8:00am. Its a 10 minute brisk walk from our Hotel Room. The Omni Hotel Complex is made up of two towers. The North and West towers. Our room is located in the west tower. Our walk is through fully airconditioned, fully carpeted hotel lobby's, and the Georgia World Congress Centre. With temperatures sitting at 33 degrees, we are fortunate not to be walking in the heat outside. It is usually 25 degrees at night.
Friday morning devotion: Tara Vin Cross reminded us that with "Grace in the manger" - God does specialize in the weak and the fragile. We can become vehicles of His love by allowing God's grace to become incarnate in us.
This and that
There are 25 Fijians here at the 2010 GC Session. Twenty are from Fiji, 4 who now reside in Australia and 1 who now lives in California. Sitting in the official delegates designated area are Pr and Mrs Vuniwa, Pr and Mrs Sukanabulisau and Mr and Mrs Senibulu. If you watch the Hope Channel or Adventist Newsline, the SPD delegation will nearly always be captured in the 'crowd shots' - this is because the crane is located right alongside their sitting area.
The group decided to check out this city Friday afternoon. We caught the train and bus to the suburb of Atlantic Station for shopping.
I think a good part of the 4.1 million people who live in this city have heard about Adventists in the last year or so. Churches in the Greater Atlanta area have been working to establish a clear Adventist presence in the city. There are greeting signs at the airport, street banners and restaurants have " vegetarian and vegan cuisine served here" in display windows.

EVENTS FROM FRIDAY NIGHT
